ABRAHAM - THE FIRST PATRIARCHAL CHRISTIAN

THE PATRIARCHS

"The LORD delighted only in your fathers, to love them; and He chose their descendants after them, you above all peoples, as it is this day." Deut 10:15. God took delight only in the Patriarchs? Yes, that's exactly what the Word says. And the later generations, the children were never chosen apart from the patriarchs. And this stays true to this day. The children are remembered before God, not of their own merit, but on account of their patriarchal fathers, which means that apart from the patriarchal fathers, we are not legitimate heirs of the Kingdom. We are to be identified as children of the patriarchs, and the only way to be identified as children of the patriarchs is to acknowledge the patriarchal fathers and live in their patriarchal life.

God is identified only in the Patriarchs. "I am God of your father Abraham, God of your father Isaac, and God of your father Jacob." (Ex 3:15, Det 29:13, Heb 11). Which means to say that He is to be known, understood and interpreted according to the way He had made Himself known to them. The Patriarchs are the forefathers, pioneers and foundation setters. God said, "I am the God of your father(s) …" - the patriarchs, which means that apart from them He is not made known. He is in effect saying that He is God of Patriarchal Order and Doctrines, and His way with us is to be the same as His ways with them. He never changed, and He never will.

ABRAHAM – THE FIRST PATRIARCHAL CHRISTIAN

Gal 3:7-9 Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, "In you all the nations shall be blessed." So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham. (NKJ) Apostle Paul presented some very vital truths about the role of Abraham in the Kingdom of God in these verses. Firstly, If anyone who receives the gospel and believes in Christ is a Christian, then Abraham would be the first Christian, and indeed he is, for he was preached the gospel beforehand and he believed. Thus Abraham was a Patriarch and the first patriarchal Christian. Secondly, those who by faith believe are also the sons of Abraham even though they are uncircumcised.

THE SONS OF ABRAHAM ARE PATRIARCHAL CHRISTIANS

It all began when God called Abraham to come out of the fallen world, to start a new life free from all adulterations of the cultures and systems of the world. That He may demonstrate to all generations to come the new life, the new culture that would be acceptable and pleasing to Him and be the standard for the rest of the world to follow. The Scripture says, "For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice, that the LORD may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him." (Gen 18:19 NKJ). Thus, it was ordained that through Abraham and his descendants, the nations are to be taught the righteousness of God and be blessed. We have thus become "chips of the old block" living in the same gospel that was first delivered to him, and it must never be another gospel but that which was demonstrated in this life. It is God’s purpose that through his generations that His ways will be taught to the rest of the world.

BIBLICAL PATRIARCHY – THE TRUE GOSPEL

Thus we see that God was the originator of Patriarchy, the patriarchal gospel and it is intended that Patriarchy will continue to be the answer for all men. Time may change, but the principles and values of the patriarchy culture of God never change. It is therefore not a new gospel neither a new culture. It is neither an old gospel nor an old culture. It is a lost gospel and a lost culture of the true abundant life that God had given to men. Biblical Patriarchy has been lost and must be restored. For God also said, "Listen to Me, you who follow after righteousness, you who seek the LORD: look to the rock from which you were hewn, and to the hole of the pit from which you were dug. Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah who bore you; for I called him alone, and blessed him and increased him." (Isa 51:1-2 NKJ) Thus apart from the way God was manifested in Abraham and the patriarchs, there will not be another true gospel of abundant life, for "The LORD delighted only in your fathers, to love them" (Deut 10:15).
